“We’re not opposed to it!” – Axolotl Clan Motto

It was a great first day!  I am so excited to announce that as of this morning, I am officially the guide to the Axolotl Clan!  We spent some time getting to know each other, made some big decisions on how the clan should run, saved Fred the gummy worm from certain death by drowning, and asked and answered our very first Curiosity Question!  Special thanks to Chase for a very informative answer about the purpose and process of sneezing.  :)

All the kids did an amazingly efficient job choosing their group name and setting up their own individual class system, including setting Guardrails (rules) and choosing to have two class representatives for the Wednesday group who will run and be elected by majority vote.  I was very impressed with the maturity that all the kids showed while bringing up and discussing issues ranging from cleaning up after themselves to how to respectfully discuss sensitive topics like politics and religion.  It was no time at all before the kids took total control of the discussion and held their own votes and negotiated among themselves to meet the needs of everyone in the group.  Each and every one of these kids made me proud to be their guide.  

I can’t wait to see what Monday brings! :)
