WILD HEARTS ADVENTURE CO. CELL PHONE SPECIAL USE AGREEMENT

At Wild Hearts, we believe in creating an environment that supports focus, connection, and safety. While cell phones are generally discouraged during program hours, we understand that there are special circumstances where a learner may need to have access to a phone.

In order for a learner to bring a phone to school, both the learner and a parent/guardian must read and agree to the following guidelines.

Permitted Use

Learners may have a cell phone on campus for the following approved purposes:

  • Contacting a parent/guardian before, during, or after program hours. Permission is not necessary, as this is a right and not a privilege, but we do require that you notify a guide before use.
  • Using phone as a tool for specific learning activities
  • Emergency use, medical need, etc.

Phones must be kept silenced and put away (in a backpack or designated area) at all times unless actively being used for one of the above, or approved purposes, listed below. For this reason, if parent needs to contact their learner, they are always welcome to call, text, or message the program to request a call from their learner at any time.

Not Allowed

Cell phone use is not permitted during:

  • Group projects or classes unless explicitly permitted by a guide
  • Social time, unless the phone use is related to a project or parental communication
  • Any time that disrupts the learning environment or violates another learner’s privacy

Any use of a cell phone for gaming, social media, taking photos/videos without consent, or unrelated browsing during program hours is considered misuse.

Please list any specific cell phone uses you wish to be approved for your learner in addition to those listed above.

Consequences for Misuse

If a learner uses their phone during inappropriate times or in ways not outlined in this agreement:

  1. The privilege to bring a phone will be revoked for 30 days.
  2. If necessary, the learner may still bring the phone but it will be required to be held by a guide during the day and returned at pickup time.

Repeated violations may result in longer-term restrictions.

Agreement

By signing below, we acknowledge that we have read and understood the expectations for cell phone use at Wild Hearts. We agree to follow these guidelines and understand the consequences for misuse.
